What is a Kotak Gift Card?

The Kotak Gift Card is one time loadable prepaid card which can be gifted on all occasions to give the beneficiary a choice to select the gift across 40 lac merchant outlets and all online/apps in India.

Where/How do I purchase a Kotak Bank Gift Card?

Apply through Net banking or Mobile banking if you are an existing customer of the Kotak Bank or alternatively you can also walk into any of our branches and purchase a Kotak Gift Card. If you are not an existing customer of Bank, please visit our Branch along with your KYC documents and Beneficiary details (name, mobile number, email id and postal address).

Do I need to have a bank account with Kotak Mahindra Bank?

You do not need to have an account with Kotak Mahindra Bank to purchase this card. Simply walk into any of our branches, fill out an application form, submit kyc and deposit the amount to be loaded onto the card plus the fees by paying cheque.

What denominations does the Kotak Gift Card come in?

You can purchase the card for a minimum value of Rs. 500 and load it for up to Rs. 10, 000 in multiples of 500.

Is there any fee to purchase the Kotak Gift Card?

Yes. The fee payable is Rs. 100/ + GST irrespective of the amount you choose to load on the card. Please contact our branches for discounts and attractive offers that are available from time to time

Can I reload the card once the value on it has been used?

As per RBI guidelines, Gift Cards can be loaded only once.

Who can i present a Kotak Gift Card to?

Does my Kotak Gift Card need to be activated?

For Kotak Gift Cards procured from branches, will be activated within 1 working day of its purchase (post receipt of clear funds by Bank), however for cards procured through Net Banking & Mobile banking, the recipient is required  to call Bank’s customer care number 1860 266 2666 or 66006022 (Local Call Charges apply).

How do I use the Kotak Gift Card?

For online website/app purchases, Input the card details while making the payment online at any merchant website/app followed with the Card PIN which is sent as part of your Card kit, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number, enter that and you will be able to make a successful transaction.

On approval, the terminal will print out a charge-slip with details of your transaction. Check that the amount is correct, and sign the slip in the same manner as you sign on the reverse of your card. Make sure that you collect your card and your copy of the charge-slip as soon as you complete the transaction.

Am I charged anything for making purchases through the Kotak Gift Card?

No, there is no extra charge (surcharge) on payments made through your Gift Card. However, at some merchant locations, such as petrol pumps, railway stations etc., a surcharge of 2.5% of the purchase amount will be applicable as per industry practice.

Can the Kotak Gift Card be reused?

Yes. The value need not be exhausted all at once. You may utilize your card only for the amount you need to, as and when convenient. You can then continue to use your card till the total amount on the card has been spent or till the expiry of the card whichever is first.

How do I check the balance remaining on my Kotak Gift Card?

You can click on below mentioned link or can visit nearest Kotak Bank ATM to check your card balance.

You can also request for a mini-statement at the ATM, which will give you the details of the last 8 transactions on your card. This service is available to you absolutely free.

What happens if the amount of purchase is more than the balance remaining on my Kotak Gift Card?

In such situation the transaction will be declined by the Bank on account of insufficient balance and you will be required to pay cash for the purchase.

What if my Kotak Gift Card is lost, stolen or damaged?

Report the loss/theft of your card immediately at any of our branches or call our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre and quote your Card reference number. Your card will be deactivated immediately to prevent misuse. However, new card can be reissued but the charged (i.e. 100+GST) will be applicable for the same.

What if my Kotak Gift Card expires or is lost or damaged and balance remains?

In such a case, Bank can issue a new Kotak Gift Card basis request from customer, can facilitate transfer of funds from old card to new card. Please visit branch along with your old card, incase card is damaged/expired.

Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Please refer the below points:

  • Make sure you sign the signature panel on the reverse of your card as soon as you receive it.
  • Keep your PIN a secret to avoid misuse. Make sure that you never keep your card and PIN together.
  • Memorize your PIN and destroy the PIN mailer.
  • Change the PIN provided by us to one that is easier for you to remember at any of our ATMs. Avoid using simple combinations like 888888 or 123456 or your date of birth.
  • If you suspect that the security of your card has been breached, please contact our 24-hour Customer Contact Centreimmediately.
  • Do not bend your card.
  • Do not leave your card near any electronic gadget. This can damage the magnetic strip on your card.
  • Avoid exposing your card to sunlight.
